Tara Hovey Tara Hovey grew up in modest circumstances. Both of her parents worked to provide for their five children. Tara’s dad, an Army Airborne veteran, worked as an iron worker, a welder and a truck driver. Her mom was a LPN. Tara, her brothers and sister, grew up outside of Rosebush. Tara’s grandparents lived just down the road and helped provide the loving support of an extended family. Though Tara worked through high school, her early years and the support of teachers instilled the importance of education and goals.

From high school, Tara went onto Central Michigan University, graduating in 1992, then on to law school at Ohio Northern University. In 1995, with a fresh law degree and the world before her, Tara remained true to her mid-Michigan values and returned to central Michigan to begin practicing law. Tara and her husband Kevin, married in 1997, began a family and set deep roots in our community. They, along with their three children, live in Clare.

Tara has a wide variety of legal experience including family law, criminal law, real estate law, and municipal law. Ms. Hovey has extensive trial experience in both civil and criminal matters. Over the years she has represented individuals, townships, property owners associations, local realtors, financial institutions and businesses. Ms. Hovey is also a licensed Title Insurance Agent.

Tara remains committed to providing the best in legal services and to achieve that goal regularly attends continued legal education courses to stay a top of the recent changes in the law.

Tara’s commitment to our community is strong. Her own life experiences drive that commitment. Tara understands the importance to families, and especially kids, of positive role models and community support. She is an active member of community groups throughout Clare and Gladwin counties and since 2002 she has helped service men and women going overseas by preparing their wills free of charge.
